Magical Tea Time at the Tea Terrace
There’s something magical about afternoon tea with friends. There’s the wonderful aroma of freshly-baked treats and hot teas. If you and your friends are so inclined, there’s also the whimsy that comes with dressing up. I also enjoy being able to converse in a more casual, laid back environment where I can actually hear what people are saying. Without further ado, let me tell you all about my magical tea time at the Tea Terrace in Las Vegas.
As soon as I walked in, I couldn’t help but smile at the cute and chaotic decor. There were flowery tea cups and flower garlands hanging from the ceiling. There were also plenty of photo backdrops — including a purple door that was adorned with pink, yellow, and white flowers. Not to mention, they also had a selection of big hats and other accessories available to use as photo props.
My friend Vanessa (check out her instagram) and I had an absolute blast trying these on.
If you’re not familiar, afternoon tea usually consists of tea and finger sandwiches, scones with cream and jam, and other small pastries. Personally, I’m partial towards the fruity and floral teas, but every now and then I’ll venture out of my comfort zone and try something new.
I ordered the Queen’s Tea ($27.99), which included the following:
- 1 pot of tea (I chose Organic White Pear)
- Lingonberry chicken on a cracker
- English cucumber sandwich
- Tarragon egg sandwich
- Turkey roll
- Scone with clotted cream and jam
- Various desserts and cookies, including fresh fruits and macarons
Now, at first it may not seem like a lot of food, especially since each item is small. However, it’s quite filling! Below is the 3-tiered cake stand that held all my food. How cute is the little bird on top?!
Here’s a closeup of the scone with clotted cream and jam. It was so delicious and had the perfect crumbly texture.
One thing I found really charming about the Tea Terrace are their mismatched tea sets. Even though everything was different, it still worked really well.
In terms of our time there, it was pretty relaxed. We spent about a couple of hours at our table, chatting and laughing. The staff was friendly and checked in on us periodically. When it was time to pay the bill, our checks came in these pretty hollowed out fake books. I thought this was such a delightful detail!
If you haven’t tried afternoon tea before, I recommend you give it a shot – whether you DIY it or go somewhere like the Tea Terrace. You don’t need a special occasion for afternoon tea either – do it just because!
